Serving our Community
Caminar Latino has been active in the Latino community for over 18 years.

Female Participant Thanks to Caminar Latino my life has been different, because I don't think about the past with sad ness, but with more clarity. I have 2 daughters who are 9 and 10 years old ant they like the program too. They have changed a lot. They are nit as timid and immature. They are more positive and have learned to survive the storm - the domestic violence we lived through together. I have changed for the better and with all the support and affirmation from Caminar Latino I am now a survivor of domestic violence.
Female Participant For me it was very difficult to let in Caminar Latino. I was ashamed of my problems.. because I am very young.. but thanks to the group I feel very good and relaxed. I now can and do have people with whom to share my situation and I am not the only one with problems and I know that I can make it.
Male Participant The positive thing about this program for me has been to learn to stop myself before I do anything to my partner. I think that it is very good what I hear from or share with my companeros (the other men)...
Child Participant My family has gotten better and changed a lot. There is also not a lot of fighting like before.
Child Participant Well, I like coming here because it is fun and there are a lot of children. They solve problems about your family and I feel better.

Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is a Serious, Widespread Social Problem in America: The Facts
Estimates range from 960,000 incidents of violence against a current or former spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend per year to three million women who are physically abused by their husband or boyfriend per year.
Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime.
Nearly one-third of American women (31 percent) report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives, according to a 1998 Commonwealth Fund survey.
